Smith
& Pickel Construction, Inc. has been providing general contracting
services from our Oklahoma City Headquarters since 1976.
Established under the name Yordi and Logan Construction, the business was renamed Yordi Construction in 1978.
As Yordi Construction, the firm concentrated on Competitive Bid
Projects. These projects were mainly composed of schools, state, and
federally funded projects.
In 1983 the company decided to obtain work exclusively through the
negotiated contract method. We believe that this form of contractual
relationship fosters a more productive working arrangement between the
Architect, Owner and General Contactor. All are members of a team
working together toward the same goal of building an economical but
high quality project.
Sam Smith and James Pickel purchased the company from Ron Yordi in 1990
after being in his employ for many years. The company immediately
became Yordi Smith & Pickel and was subsequently named Smith &
Pickel Construction, Inc.
Specializing in all phases of commercial construction, Smith and Pickel
Construction, Inc. has become one of the premier general contractors in
the Southwest. Our volume of work consists of individual projects
ranging in size from less than $100,000 to more than $20 million, and
includes office buildings, tenant spaces, medical Facilities,
biotechnical facilities, federal buildings, churches, financial
institutions, educational facilities, assisted living centers, art
museums and facilities for non profit organizations.
With a total staff of 24 engineers, project managers, superintendents,
and other support personnel, Smith and Pickel Construction is
well-equipped to handle several projects simultaneously. We utilize the
latest in computer technology and provide our staff with the safest,
most modern construction equipment available.
The management of our firm is directed by Sam B. Smith, President, and
James A. Pickel, Executive Vice President. With degrees in Construction
Management and Economics, respectively, and over 58 years cumulative
experience in the construction industry, they provide a solid
foundation for long term planning as well as day to day operations.
